Grants, New Mexico

Patient-Led NM hosted a Healthcare Summit at the NMSU Grants Branch Auditorium on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, bringing together patients, families, providers, and community members for a candid conversation about healthcare access in New Mexico.

The community forum placed patients at the center of the discussion, highlighting the real human consequences of delayed and unavailable care. Attendees heard firsthand stories from New Mexicans, including families like the Saiz family of Las Cruces, who shared the burden of traveling hours for medical appointments and navigating difficult choices as physicians continue to leave the state.

The summit created space for shared understanding around workforce shortages, access challenges, and the urgent need for patient-centered solutions. By grounding policy conversations in lived experience, the event reinforced the message that healthcare reform in New Mexico must start with the voices of patients and families most affected.
